In 2008, Eben was the winner of the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge. He received €500,000 to further develop Ecovative. Ecovative is a material science company developing a new class of home-compostable packaging materials based on mycelium, a living organism. Mushroom Materials are high-performance, environmentally responsible alternatives to traditional styrofoam packaging, insulation, and other synthetic materials.

Eben uses biology to create disruptive solutions that are good for people and the planet. He has evangelized a strategy of bio-adaption around the world, including presentations at TED Global, PopTech, and The World Economic Forum in Davos.
