What do we expect of entrepreneurs taking part in the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge? We are often asked questions about our entry form: What kind of questions do you ask? How many questions are there? Do I have to complete them all? Why do you want to see an elevator pitch? Do you have a Word-document with all the questions?

So we felt some explanation might come in useful at this stage.

What kind of questions do we ask?

All sorts of questions, from your name and address to a SWOT analysis of your business and everything in between. Not because we're particularly nosy, but because we want to see if you've thought your business through, whether or not you're beyond the idea stage. We need to see if you have your finances in order, if you've thought about how and when to get your product, service or technology to market. Who are the people in your team and why will your team make this work?

How many questions are there?

43. Including requests for images of your business and your team. Sounds like a lot, but trust us, it's worth the work! Imagine what winning 500,000 EUR could mean for your business....Can you picture it? Now answering 43 questions doesn't seem too bad anymore does it?

Do I have to complete them all?

Yes. Nothing more to be said about that really.

Why do we want to see your elevator pitch?

Because that's what makes you real to us. By the way you speak about your company, we can tell if you really mean it. We can see the passion you have for your invention. We want you to convince us of why you and your team are the right people for the job. If you are at the stage of needing the next capital injection, you're going to need a well-rehearsed pitch. You never know when you might run in to the next investor. So you might as well give it a go. Think about what you want to tell (Who are you, what's your solution to which problem? Why will you make it work? Who's on your team?), take some time to rehearse it, and then record it. Upload your pitch to YouTube, and copy the URL into the entry form.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a video of professional quality, with bumpers, jingles or logo's, you can even record one with your smartphone.

Do you have a Word document that has all the questions on it?

Yes, download it here. Maybe you want to be able to work on your entry offline. Maybe you want to divide the questions amongst your team. All good reasons for posting this entry form in Word format. However, do not forget to enter all the answers in the online form before June 1st!

If you have any other questions about the entry form, or participating in the competition, don't hesitate to drop us a line through This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
