Over 300 sustainable start-ups have a chance at winning 500,000 EUR
Amsterdam – 13 June 2014 The entry period for the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge 2014 is now closed. 324 people from all over the world sent in their sustainable business plans. The entrants have a chance of winning the grand prize of 500,000 EUR to bring their product or service that helps combat climate change to market. Another 200,000 is up for grabs for 1 or 2 other promising green entries. Which entrepreneurs will win the competition will be known on September 11th.
Sustainable plans from 57 countries
Business plans were submitted from 57 countries. Most of the entries are from The Netherlands (103), the USA (48), Great-Britain (19), Sweden (17) and India (17). The bulk of the entries fall in the Energy category (176), followed by Lifestyle (57), Cradle to Cradle (51), ICT (20) and Mobility (20).
On August 13th the preliminary jury will announce who the five to seven finalists are. These finalists will pitch their sustainable business plans before the international jury and a selected audience in Amsterdam on Thursday September 11th. The jury, chaired by British Ellen MacArthur, will then announce the winner and runner-up(s).

To contribute towards a greener world, the Dutch Postcode Lottery has been organising the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge every year since 2007. It is the largest annual competition in the field of sustainable innovation. The competition is aimed at creative, innovative minds from all over the world. Winners of previous editions are currently successful with their innovative products, partly thanks to the publicity surrounding and network of the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge.
