25 green start-ups in the running for €500,000

Amsterdam, 15 July 2015 - Today the 25 nominees who are in the running for a final place in the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge 2015 were announced. Organised by the Dutch Postcode Lottery, this is the largest annual international competition in the field of sustainability innovation. On 17 August, it will be made known which 5 nominees will move on to the finale to be held on 10 September in Amsterdam. The winner of the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge 2015 receives €500,000 to further develop their product or service and bring it to market. The runner-up receives €200,000.
271 sustainability business plans from 56 countries
For the ninth year in a row the Dutch Postcode Lottery seeks to support new products or services that reduce CO2 emissions and greenhouse gases through the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge. A preliminary jury of experts assessed the 271 sustainability business plan submissions sent in from 56 countries. The 25 nominees selected are from the Netherlands, Germany, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Switzerland, Spain, England, the United States and Sweden.
Margriet Schreuders, chair of the preliminary jury: “This is the first year that we are announcing the 25 nominees from the pre-selection. During the selection process two clear trends emerged. The submissions represent a broader geographical mix, with many coming from the African region and there is a noticeable growth in the number of initiatives related to food, a topic that reflects contemporary challenges.”
