International competition to award €500,000 for best creative, innovative. sustainable idea
AMSTERDAM; July 7, 2011 – The Postcode Lottery Green Challenge, one of the world's biggest green innovation competitions, has already received more than 110 entries in the energy category alone this year. That makes energy the most popular category so far. The competition remains open until July 29.
Each entrant submits his or her business plan in one of five categories: Energy, Lifestyle, IT, Design or Mobility. So far, 212 people from 39 countries on six continents have entered their inventions in the contest. Most entries have come from the Netherlands (78), the United States (32), India (30) and the United Kingdom (16). This year has seen more Indian entries than ever before.
€700,000 to be given away
The Postcode Lottery Green Challenge will award €500,000 to the entrant with the best business plan. An additional €200,000 will go to one or two other promising green ideas. The Dutch Postcode Lottery established the contest in an effort to help make the world a greener place.
The competition aims to elicit promising, creative ideas that combat CO2 emissions and can be put on the market within two years. The Postcode Lottery and the DOEN Foundation help the winners to realise their inventions. The Green Challenge takes place this year for the fifth time.
Three weeks left
You can submit your green business plan until July 29 at www.greenchallenge.info. A preliminary jury will choose five to seven finalists.
An international jury will select the winners on September 15 at the PICNIC event in Amsterdam.
